If you've just lost your job, how you manage your energy next could be a game-changer
Losing a job can be one of the most disorienting and emotionally charged experiences you’ll go through. Whether it’s a sudden layoff or the result of ongoing changes in the workplace, experiencing redundancy can shake your sense of security and leave you feeling unsure of what’s next. It’s not just about losing a paycheck; it’s about losing your routine, who you thought you were, and even confidence in your abilities.
If you’ve recently found yourself here, without a job, you might be feeling a mix of emotions—shock, fear, anger, or even numbness. Losing a job can feel deeply personal, but what if I told you that this period of uncertainty could also be your opportunity to realign, restore, and rediscover your inner power? I’m calling this your empowered path era. The way you manage your energy right now can really shape what happens next for you – and can be that difference between aligning to your ideal job or more of the same experience you’ve just come from. Let’s not go back there – let’s explore how energy management, through simple rituals and practices, can be a game-changer in guiding you toward your next career chapter.
Feeling all the feels after job loss
Before we dive into solutions, it’s important to acknowledge the emotional weight of losing a job. You might be feeling like the ground has been pulled from under you. Anxiety might be creeping in as you start seeing bills pile up and your savings shrink. Your energy can quickly shift into contraction, making it harder to see or feel the path ahead clearly.
When emotional stress contracts our energy field, it can make it difficult to attract the right opportunities. The energetic state you find yourself in right after a job loss can either open new doors or keep them closed. Allowing yourself the space to feel into where you are now – being totally present with what is, how your body feels, how your space feels, is crucial.
Embracing stillness and reflection
The initial shock of losing your job is big. I’ve been here, I feel you. It's important to give yourself permission to pause and reflect. This may feel counterintuitive when you're worried about the future, but jumping straight into job searches without recalibrating your energy may just end up attracting more of the same to you.
Instead, take some time to be still. Whether that’s a few days or a week, allow yourself space to process your emotions fully. This could look like taking a walk through the trees or by the water. It could be creating a sacred space in your home—an altar or a quiet corner where you can retreat each day to reflect. Surround this space with meaningful objects: crystals, candles, plants, and set the intention that this space is comforting, supportive and loving. It may be that you sit here in silence, in beautiful meditation. You may also want to journal, setting an intention each week or each day, intending what you are letting go of, and how you are being supported. In this way you can begin to ground your energy and reconnect with your inner self.
Supporting your journey with energy work
When I experienced job loss one of the most nurturing things I did for myself was to seek support in rebalancing my energy frequency through reiki sessions, acupuncture and massage. Reiki works by gently removing energetic blockages and helping your life force energy flow freely again. Our energy flow can become stuck or stagnant when we are processing overwhelm and big emotions and working with an energy healer or alternative therapist who can identify areas of stagnation in your energy field can help restore a sense of balance and calm.
There are also many supportive self-healing energy practices you can work into your routine at home like tapping (EFT) or simple breathing exercises. Both methods encourage the release of pent-up energy and emotions, helping you shift into a more balanced state.
Working with crystals to release stuck energy
Crystals can help us to harness powerful, supportive energies that help to release stuck energy and align your vibration with new opportunities. If you’re feeling weighed down by emotions like fear, anger, or sadness after losing your job, working with crystals can support you to clear these feelings and move forward.
Black Tourmaline: Known for its grounding and protective properties, Black Tourmaline can help you release negative energy and create a shield from external stress. Hold this crystal while meditating or place it near your sacred space to feel more grounded and safe.
Smoky Quartz: Smoky Quartz is excellent for clearing emotional blockages and transmuting negative energy into positive energy. It’s also great for dissolving anxiety and promoting calmness.
Labradorite: Labradorite is a stone of transformation. It can help you release past disappointments and prepare for a new chapter. It encourages you to trust the unknown and embrace change with an open heart.
By including crystals during your daily rituals, you can help clear emotional and energetic blockages, making space for new, positive energy to flow in.
Daily Rituals to help you regain stability and lift you up
You may have heard it everywhere before, but consistency really is key when it comes to managing your energy. By incorporating small, daily rituals into your routine, you can get more grounded and regain a sense of stability in your life – even in the midst of uncertainty.
For instance, you might start your day by lighting a candle at your sacred altar, setting an intention for your day, it could be “Today I am open to receiving new opportunities.” You might follow this with five minutes of deep, mindful breathing or a short meditation. These small acts help to anchor you, connecting you to your own energy and your body and setting the tone for the rest of the day.
In the evening, consider a gratitude practice. Reflect on three things you were grateful for that day, no matter how small they might seem. This helps to shift your mindset to the energy of abundance, even during times when it might feel like everything is falling apart. The more gratitude you cultivate, the more you signal to the universe that you're ready to receive more.
Bringing in your ideal job – Visualisation and intention setting
When your energy is clear and balanced, you're in a prime position to start calling in your next opportunity. One powerful tool is visualization. As you sit in your sacred space, visualize yourself in your ideal job. Don’t focus on the specifics of the role, but rather how you want to feel in this new job. Do you feel fulfilled, valued, inspired? Visualize yourself working in this environment, surrounded by people who support and uplift you.
Next, I invite you to set an intention. You intention becomes powerful when you can focus more on the feeling or experience rather than the outcome. For example, instead of saying, “I want a new job by next month,” set an intention like, “I am open to receiving the job that aligns with my highest good. The job where I feel valued, supported and am paid well, where I have supportive relationships with my team and I’m able to grow.”
When you hold this intention, while visualising and embodying the energy of the job you desire, you are energetically aligning with it. You can also support your intention by working with crystals for abundance and alignment. You might choose to work with:
Citrine: Often called the “stone of success” because it can support you to manifest abundance and positivity and generally feels uplifting. Wear it in jewellery, place it on your altar or keep it in your pocket during job interviews or networking events to attract success and confidence.
Green Aventurine: Known as the “stone of opportunity,” Green Aventurine helps align you with good fortune and new beginnings. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a fresh start in their career.
Clear Quartz: Clear Quartz is a powerful amplifier of intentions – it’s like the wild card of crystals. If you’re setting a clear intention to find the job that aligns with your highest self, you could include clear quartz while you visualise your ideal work environment.
Trust in the timing of the Universe
After job loss, there can be immense pressure to immediately find the next thing, but rushing often leads to settling for less than what you truly deserve. Trusting in divine timing means understanding that you will connect with what you desire when your energy is in alignment to it. This could take 3 days or 3 months, it all depends on the energy. Every “no” or closed door is guiding you to something better aligned with your energy and purpose.
Trust in the process. When you look at the timing of your life overall, you may see that the job you have lost wasn’t in alignment with the path you are growing towards. This may be your opportunity for a redirection, a new beginning with more focus and intention. I see you, you’ve got this.
Much love,
